Child Mental Health Services

Children and parents receive intensive support as they work on resolving challenges they face. ABC provides:

  • Ten 1-hour weekly sessions in your home with structured topics to assist you and your children.
  • Positive feedback during sessions using video clip review and commenting on live interactions.
  • A celebration and a special video gift of you and your children upon completion.

Farm and Food

DOUG LOFDAHL
FARM & FOOD PROGRAM CO-MANAGER

KRISTIN GALABRUN
FARM & FOOD PROGRAM CO-MANAGER

The Farm and Food Program was designed to provide a supportive, sustainable solution to the food insecurity faced by families participating in Family Nurturing Center services. We address the importance of early childhood nutrition, remove barriers that prevent families from being able to afford local fresh foods, provide social settings for families to prepare and share meals together, and introduce adults and infants alike to the soil, insects, pollinators, old growth sequoia, barn cats, and volunteers that all contribute to the place and production of the FNC farm.

We increase families' access to enough food that provides adequate nutrition with the specific program goal: "for families to be physically nourished so that parents and children can be fully present in relationship with one another.

Therapeutic Early Childhood Education

LOUISE HORN
RELIEF NURSERY PROGRAM MANAGER

The fundamental goal of our therapeutic early childhood classrooms is to enhance the social, emotional, and cognitive functioning of each child, and to support healing from traumatic life experiences. Therapeutic classroom teachers provide intentional, consistent, and thoughtful therapeutic responses, utilizing research-based interventions.

Through nurturing interactions in the classroom, children learn that adults can help them solve problems, regulate their feelings, and develop friendships with other children. Slowly but surely, children build resilience and restore developmental competencies. The philosophy and structure of the program are developed out of an understanding of attachment theory, brain development, the impact of trauma, and the constructivist learning theories of Piaget and Vygotsky.

Offered in Phoenix, Medford and Grants Pass.

Every Child

Lynette hasse
DIRECTOR

We aim to bring comfort and self-worth to children in foster care.

We provide support to the invaluable families who care for them, and we come alongside those who are on the front lines of the crises in our county.

Our vision is to empower individual counties to occupy a third space that calls their community into partnership with the Department of Human Services (DHS). This statewide effort empowers local communities to come alongside their local DHS to love, care for and support children in foster care.

Snack Pantry and Clothing Closet: Provides an emergency outfit for children arriving into care.

My NeighOR: An emergency response initiative for ALL foster parents as a result of Covid-19.

Foster the Love: A gift campaign designed to show love and worth to children in foster care.

Welcome Boxes and Baby Bags: Carefully curated boxes of essential items of love and support for children ages 2-18.

The Neighborhood: Connects caring community volunteers with foster families in need of support.

Makeovers for Child Welfare: Community groups and individuals gather together to contribute their time and talents to remodeling projects for our dedicated individuals at DHS.

We connect parents with a mentor who has successfully navigated similar challenges to help support them through the permanency placement of their child(ren).

Parent-Child Attachment and Bonding

Our trained and licensed counselors work with parents and children in a group setting to build relationships and overcome challenges.

Permanent Housing and Self-Sufficiency

This intervention combines affordable housing assistance with voluntary support services to address the needs of homeless families raising young children.

Services are designed to build independent living and tenancy skills and connect people with community-based health care, treatment and employment services, while finding them a home they can call their own.

We work with property management companies to provide independent living opportunities for folks with little to no rental history or credit.

Therapeutic Classrooms for Children
